Terms of Service

Version 2026-08-06. These terms govern your use of InvestLab (the “Service”), operated by Stephane Renevier (“we”, “us”). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

InvestLab is an educational and analytical platform: model strategies, historical simulations (backtests), live strategy tracking, and written research. It exists to help you learn and analyse — it does not manage money, execute trades, or hold client assets.

2. Not investment advice

Nothing on the Service is investment advice, a personal recommendation, or an invitation to buy or sell any financial instrument. Content is generic and educational and does not take your circumstances into account. We are not your adviser, broker, or fiduciary, and no client relationship is created by your use of the Service. Any decision you make — and its consequences — is yours alone. If you are unsure whether an investment is right for you, consult a regulated financial adviser.

3. Risk warnings

Investing involves risk, including the loss of capital. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Backtested and simulated figures have inherent limitations: they are produced with hindsight, use assumptions (costs, financing, data splices) that are disclosed but simplified, and do not reflect actual trading. Live-tracked figures are simulations of published rules, not records of real accounts.

4. Accounts

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts are personal to you and non-transferable. We may refuse, suspend, or revoke access at our discretion, including for any breach of these terms.

5. Intellectual property

The Service and everything in it — the software, design, strategy definitions, methodologies, parameters, simulations, analytics, text, and data presentations — are our intellectual property or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and related rights. © 2026 Stephane Renevier / InvestLab. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own private, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are granted.

6. What you must not do

You must not, and must not help or permit anyone else to:

  • copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute the Service or any substantial part of its content, strategies, parameters, or data — whether manually, by scraping, by automated access, or by feeding it to machine-learning or code-generation systems for the purpose of reproducing it;
  • build, offer, or assist a product or service that competes with the Service using material, methodologies, or strategy specifications obtained from it;
  • sell, sublicense, rent, or otherwise commercialise access to the Service or its content;
  • share credentials, circumvent access controls or plan gating, or probe the Service's security;
  • use the Service to provide investment advice or portfolio management to third parties;
  • redistribute third-party market data received through the Service.

Breach of this section is a material breach and may result in immediate termination of your access, in addition to any other remedy available to us.

7. Third-party data and accuracy

Market data comes from third-party providers. We work hard on correctness, but we do not warrant that any figure, simulation, signal, or dataset is accurate, complete, or timely, and we may correct, restate, or remove content at any time.

8. Availability and changes

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and is under active development. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any feature, strategy, or plan (including what is included in free and paid tiers) at any time without notice.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service — including investment losses, lost profits, or indirect or consequential loss. Our total aggregate liability for all claims is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and £100. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for fraud).

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without cause. Sections 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 12 survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the version date above changes and you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing to use the Service.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or the Service.
